Taft Defeats Withrow in CMAC Battle at Holiday Hardwood Classic



CINCINNATI- For the third year in a row, the Withrow Tigers and Taft Senators battled it out at the Cintas Center as part of the Holiday Hardwood Classic.


Taft, coming in as the favorite, came out hot, leading 16-9 after the first quarter, and after a solid second frame from Withrow, ultimately controlled the second half of the game to win 62-47. Taft was led by Lorenzo McMullen, who came off the bench to score a season-high 18 points for the Senators. The other players in double figures were Monsanna Torbert (11 points) and Jaionte Jones (10).


For Withrow, star Fabian Coker had 21 points in the losing effort, while Kristian Bonner was the only other Tiger in double figures (10).


With the win, Taft improves to 5-2 with a matchup with Woodward on deck. Withrow falls to 2-7 and will take on Ponitz HS (Dayton, OH) on Monday.
