Sycamore Aviators Preview

Updated: Dec 12, 2022

After a historic 2021-22 season that saw Sycamore win 20 games and reach the third round of the playoffs, the Aviators are back and hoping to build on that success this season.

Despite losing star Ben Southerland to Liberty University, Sycamore has re-tooled ahead of this season under second-year head coach Tim Austing.

The Aviators are led by 6'10 junior Raleigh Burgess, a three-star recruit who holds offers from Ohio State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Ole Miss, and others. Sycamore also features three seniors in their starting lineup.

  • Bryce Darbyshire, whose brother Grant is now a walk-on at Kentucky

  • Des Bolden, who has started 33 games over the past two seasons

  • Austin Southerland, who averaged 8.4 ppg off the bench last season.

Sycamore, who won a share of the GMC title last season, will take on Milford in the second game of the Holiday Hardwood Classic on Dec. 27 at 3:00pm.
