Mount Notre Dame Rallies to Defeat Bellbrook 69-55 at Cintas Center
CINCINNATI, OH – The Mount Notre Dame Cougars overcame an early deficit to defeat the Bellbrook Golden Eagles 69-55 at the Cintas Center on Thursday, claiming a strong comeback victory.
Bellbrook came out firing, jumping to a 19-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, the Cougars quickly regrouped in the second period, outscoring Bellbrook 16-6 to take a 30-25 lead into halftime. The defensive adjustments and fast-paced offense helped MND seize control of the game after a slow start.
Senior Kailee Bransford, who was named Game MVP, led the charge for Mount Notre Dame with a well-rounded performance. Bransford finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 steals, providing both offensive and defensive spark for the Cougars. Mia Vieth also contributed significantly, adding 15 points, while Renee Hackney chipped in with 12 points to help extend MND’s lead in the second half.
Bellbrook fought hard throughout the game but was unable to match the Cougars’ intensity after the break. The Golden Eagles had a strong offensive effort, but Mount Notre Dame’s defense and balanced scoring proved to be too much.
With the victory, the Cougars continue their strong season, improving their record to 8-1 as they head into the heart of their schedule. Bellbrook, despite the loss, showed resilience and will look to bounce back in their next matchup.
Mount Notre Dame’s next challenge will be to maintain their momentum as they prepare for their upcoming games against Lawrence North (IN) and McNicholas.
