Fairfield Holds Off Seton 48-45 in Holiday Hardwood Classic Thriller

CINCINNATI, OH – In a back-and-forth battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Fairfield Indians defeated the Seton Saints 48-45 at the Cintas Center as part of the Holiday Hardwood Classic.

Fairfield jumped out to an early lead, with junior Kobi Crim scoring the first two baskets of the game on layups. Seton responded quickly, making it a competitive contest. After a tight opening quarter, Fairfield held a slim 11-10 advantage.

The second quarter saw both teams put up more points, with Seton taking a 28-26 lead at halftime thanks to a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Brooke Goshorn. The game remained even throughout the third period, with Seton narrowly leading 37-36 heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was packed with excitement. Seton’s Aubri Korfhagen opened the period with a three-pointer, only for Fairfield’s Danielle Marsh to quickly answer with a three of her own. Korfhagen and Marsh continued their exchange, with both players hitting key shots from beyond the arc. With 4:39 left, Seton held a slim 43-42 lead.

However, Fairfield seized control down the stretch. The Indians quickly scored a few baskets to regain the lead, and despite a valiant effort by Seton, Fairfield held on for a 48-45 victory.

Kobi Crim of Fairfield was named the Beacon Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Player of the Game for her strong performance and leadership throughout the contest.

With the win, Fairfield improves to 3-7 on the season and 1-4 in the Greater Miami Conference (GMC). Seton, meanwhile, falls to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the Greater Girls Catholic League (GGCL). Both teams will look to build on their performances as they continue their respective seasons as Seton plays Alter next while Fairfield battles Fairmont.
